Chosen Clothing Co. is a beautiful boutique specializing in quality, gently-used clothing. You’ll also find that we feature some new clothing and accessories. Our store offers a selection of women’s, men’s, children’s, and baby clothing, gear and accessories in a variety of sizes. Customers can shop online to see our entire inventory and even complete an order for curbside pickup. In store, our employees are ready to help you discover your next favorite outfit and to have a great time shopping for it. How Selling Clothing Works
Gather Clothes
Gather together your great-looking, gently used clothing and accessories. To get started, please get familiar with our acceptance guidelines here.
Make an Appointment
Call us at 530-215-1117 to pick an appointment time that works best for you. We also accept walk-ins on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1pm to 5pm. For walk-ins, we ask that you have 10 items or less.
During Appointment
You will fill out a consigner form, and are expected to stay in close proximity in case our buyer has questions or concerns about your items. Spend your hour appointment browsing our local merchant booths, our current Chosen Clothing inventory, or grab a coffee next door.
“Chosen” Clothing
We will inspect and choose the best qualifying items. Based on the items we choose, we will make you an on-the-spot offer you can accept in cash or store credit.
“Unchosen” Items
Anything we choose not to buy will be returned to you or donated. See our unchosen merchandise policy here.
Acceptance Guidelines
Chosen means selected, favored, and picked out by preference above others. The value we offer to our customers is selecting the very best pieces to display for them, so they have a wonderful experience choosing their next outfit. We are a consignment boutique offering great brands and near-mint condition clothing to our customers, not a thrift store or yard sale. Shoppers at Chosen should feel overwhelmed by great options and thrilled when trying clothes on in the dressing room! Consignors are our invaluable partners in this mission. When prepping your consignment items, think about what you would be thrilled to see and what would disappoint you while you were shopping.
1) Women’s and Children’s clothing, accessories, and select Children’s toys and gear.
2) Seasonally appropriate. See our latest postings to find out which seasons we are currently accepting. Postings are in-store, online, on social media, and by email list.
3) Items must be either new with tags/unworn or gently-used items that have been freshly washed (within a week’s time) and wrinkle free; buttons, snaps, and zippers closed. Certain materials look better if ironed. Presentation will increase the sale’s price and may prevent your items from being rejected.
4) Bring items in on hangers or neatly folded in a paper bag, bin, or other acceptable container. Trash bags or unfolded clothes will not be accepted. We will return any bins or hangers you want back.
5) Near mint condition. We consign items that are in only very good to excellent condition. Do not bring in any damaged items, including but not limited to: stains, odors, pet hair, tears, pilling, fading, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers, missing trim, mildew, scuffed shoes or bags, scratched lenses, crooked seams, or other defects.
6) Higher-end brands and newer (within two years) styles are recommended. Part of value of a consignment store is finding great brands not easily accessible in a smaller town. However, most cute, quality items will be considered, regardless of brand and style date. Offering our customers great deals and respecting the sustainable lifecycle of clothing is equally important.
7) Items must be authentic brands. No recalled items may be consigned. Consignors shall be responsible for checking for recalls before bringing in items.
8) We do not accept pajamas, undergarments, business suits, formal wear, wedding dresses, swimwear, or flimsy jewelry.
10) Pricing and net sales price. Chosen will set and determine the final net sales price at our sole discretion.
11) Consignors must be 18+ years old.
Unchosen Merchandise Policy
How to get an appointment: We are taking appointments for women’s, children's, and men's clothing at this time. You can set an appointment by phone or in person. Due to limited storage space, we can’t store your items before your appointment. Please bring your consignment items at the time of your appointment.
Unchosen items: We define items that do not fit our acceptance guidelines as "unchosen" items. We will notify you once we have finished sorting your items and hold unchosen items for 7 days. Stop by our store during store hours for pickup or use one of our curbside pickup spots. If you have not picked up your items within 7 days, they will be donated.
Or, if you choose to donate your unchosen items, we will donate them to a local nonprofit. Donation slips are not guaranteed due to the sheer quantity that we donate. However, we are happy to give you the specific charity’s information, just ask!
NOTE: If you select “Donate” on your consigner form filled out upon arrival, we WILL donate at our sole discretion. Sometimes our reasoning and judgement may be different than your expectations. Regardless of brand or other factors, we have to donate wrinkled or dirty items or any items that do not match our acceptance guidelines. Furthermore, we may donate items that we already have too much inventory of or aren’t seasonally in demand. Please choose “Pick Up” if you think you may regret that we donated any of your items.
